The new edition of The Wild Side Guide (Jacqueline Windh, Harbour Publishing, ISBN 978-1-55017-485-4) is out! The guidebook has been completely revised and expanded (now 208 pages), with lots of info about Vancouver Island’s west coast: the town of Port Alberni, and villages of Tofino, Ucluelet, Bamfield and Nitinat, as well as the national and provincial parks and wilderness areas: Long Beach, Clayoquot Sound and Barkley Sound. I’ve also updated all of the business listings: places to stay, places to eat, and all sorts of things to do.

We receive over one million visitors here on Vancouver Island’s west coast every year – that’s more than the entire country of Costa Rica! As a local (Tofino) resident (and former kayak tour guide), over the past years I’ve come across a lot of tourists who leave here wishing they had known about many of the unique things you can do here before they arrived – people who missed out.

So that’s why I put together this book – to show you what we’ve got here before you arrive, so you can make sure you don’t miss out on anything.

My May 2010 book launch events in British Columbia were great successes – fun evenings with multi-media (photos, readings and film) to give people a feel for this amazing region that is my home. Please look at the Media page for press coverage of the events and the book itself.
